Thursday Mar 1, 5:00 PM
Needs a location
Date: Thursday, March 1st or 2nd depending on your feedback.
Where: all over Australia
As part of http://www.meetup.com... being coordinated by our San Franciscan colleagues, lets take part in the first ever global Hack In for OpenStack!
We need 4 things:
1. A suitable time The US event is scheduled for Thursday 11am to 5am PST, that's 6am to midday on Friday AEDST. (why cant we all work in UTC :-| ) I realise OpenStack is important to you all, but I'm betting it's not yet 6am important. My suggestion is we lead off the global community on our Thursday from 5pm to 11pm AEDST? Unless the Kiwis or some Pacific islands get onto it, we can lead the world into the 1st ever global OpenStack event!
2. Venues If you have office space, a meeting room, a class room or even a nice lounge room anywhere in the country to devote to the event. Naturally it needs Internet access.
3. Organizers If you have a venue, we need someone to manage your event. This means making sure your venue is readied, organizing food or drink, it'll be up to you how you run your location, if you supply food/drink or just grab the orders, collect the coin and call for pizza.
4. Technical Organizers At a minimum someone who is familiar with DevStack and has submitted a valid bug report to OpenStack, so they can at least organize people's exploration and testing around the area they've investigated before.
If you can do any or all of the above, please either post back to this list or email me directly at tristan at aptira dot com
Event details:
Essex is a release focused on improving the integrity of OpenStack, so our first Global Hack In is right at the start of the release candidate cycle. The event is focused on testing and getting familiar with the release and exploring areas outside of your expertise.
Collaborators will be working on resolving high priority bugs, and exploring, reviewing and testing OpenStack Essex.
Activities might include:
* Bug Triage
* Patch Review
* Peer Code Review
* Ad hoc Testing of use cases
* Test Automation
Please let me know if anyone's interested in doing it in Gold Coast, QLD. I have a good open plan, customisable office space with drinks and wifi whatnot we can use. Will take probably 20 people max. But need some Interest first.
For Gold Coasters and Brisbane'rs, I'm going to be doing a "coder's discovery day" .. more details here: http://www.meetup...
